Reshoring for Frog Bikes

21st August 2016
A terrific example here to use with students as they study the reasons for and choice of production location.

Frog Bikes, which designs and manufactures lightweight bikes for children, is bringing manufacturing assembly of its bikes back from China to a new factory in Wales.
A variety of factors are quoted in the article behind the decision to reshore production, including the problems Frog Bikes have experienced with sales forecasting which left them short of inventories as demand rose.
According to one of the Frog Bike founders:
"This [reshoring] will enable us to be more responsive to the market, have more control over quality, introduce innovations faster, reduce our environmental footprint and create jobs to benefit the local economy,”
50 new jobs have been created at the factory which will have a production capacity of 200 bikes per day.
