Great example of the factors influencing the location of international production here.

The Guardian reports here on how Apple has set up manufacturing capacity in Chennai, India to make iPhone 14s for the Indian domestic market.

Apple is aiming to produce a quarter of all iPhone 14s in India by 2025.

India is the world’s second-largest smartphone market after China and Apple has been assembling phones there since 2017.

China has become a less attractive location for Apple and other multinationals in recent years, particularly due to the more stringent approach to COVID lockdowns which have disrupted global supply chains.
