Lesson video - a day in the life of a supermarket

Ok. Once you get over the glossy, corporate feel, this five minute video would make a perfect starter for a lesson that uses the grocery supermarkets as a stimulus for discussion…

The video takes a look behind the scenes of a Sainsbury’s supermarket. Some good material here on how online shopping is organised by Sainsbury’s, the role and importance of staff training etc.

It paints a very rosy picture of the ideal Sainsbury’s store - which might not match everyone’s experience. The Sainsbury’s cafe seems particularly modern and attractive - a world away from the miserable customer service I experience whenever I stop off for a cuppa at my local Sainsbury’s in North Leeds.

But show it to your students and get their reaction - how many business studies concepts can they identify?
