It's time for the founder to step aside at Netflix and allow new management to tackle some tricky strategic challenges!

The BBC reports here that Reed Hastings, the co-founder and co-CEO of Netflix is stepping down from his role as co-CEO. However, Hastings will remain with Netflix, as executive chairman.

Netflix will now be run by Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters, both already in senior management positions.

Sarandos and Peters have a lot to tackle.

The main challenges facing Netflix seem to include:

• Managing high levels of costs, particularly new programming
• Password sharing amongst users, which damages subscription revenues
• Increased competition from rivals such as Amazon, HBO, Apple TV and Disney
