The OCR(A) A-Level Biology Paper 1 Exam is on Thurs 4th June. Here are my observations about which topics haven't been examined for a while and could come up.

General observations:

• Module 2 topics frequently come up in section A MCQ
• The topics below are all for section B – some of these topics have never come up in a section B before

• Respiration and photosynthesis nearly always come up every year in paper 1 - Occasionally they don’t and then you will find it in paper 3
• Microscopes, staining, calculation
• Cell structure – organelles (2025 was chloroplast and mitochondria)
• Prokaryotes vs eukaryotes
• Always likely to have biological molecules – look out for colorimeter last in 2020
• Nucleotides / protein synthesis
• Osmosis experiment last in 2022
• Checkpoint proteins
• Meiosis and mitosis
• Stem cells last in 2022
• Chloride shift / CO2 transport
• Hydrophytes / xerophytes
• Potometer last in 2021
• Translocation
• Positive feedback
• Liver last 2021
• Adrenal glands last in 2022
• Pancreas last in 2021
• Diabetes last in 2021
• Pacinian corpuscle / receptors and neurone structure
• Reflex last in 2021
• Brain last in 2021
• Muscles last in 2022

It is vital to revise and prepare for ALL topics. This is not a set of predictions for the paper, rather a set of observations of the topics that haven't been deeply assessed for a while.
