Same-Sex Marriage in Australia
13th December 2017
Australia is the most recent country to legalise same-sex marriages with an overwhelming majority of MPs voting in support of the change to the Marriage Act.
The vote comes shortly after those eligible to vote were asked in a referendum in the country, where 61.6% of those polled supported a change in the law.
This article could be used as part of a discussion of the changing nature of families and households and further discussion could include why some countries may resist the introduction of same-sex marriage or are perhaps slower to adopt changes than others.
