Gal Gadot's Cleopatra film sparks 'whitewashing' claims
23rd October 2020
Gal Gadot, the Israeli actress recently announced her intentions to produce and star in a new film version of 'Cleopatra'.
However, her announcement has not come without criticism with some people on social media arguing that this amounts to: "cultural whitewashing."
Some people have said that the role should be played by an Arab or African actress, although other commentators have said that the real Cleopatra was most likely to have been of Greek or Macedonian descent.
