Acquired Brain Injury

Definition: Damage to the brain that occurs after birth. It is distinct from genetic, congenital disorders (ones you are born with), or degenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s.

Two types:

  • Traumatic (TBI): Caused by external physical force.
  • Non-traumatic (NTBI): Caused by internal factors.
