What is Africa's Great Green Wall?
17th January 2021
Thus clip looks at the creation of a Great Green Wall in Africa, designed to reduce the negative externalities of desertification and offset the adverse effects of the overuse of common access resources.
Over $14bn has been pledged to establish this structure over the next four years - the largest living structure on the planet - although despite all of the investment pledges and goodwill, the initiative hasn't really taken off yet.
More than 20 African countries have joined together to plant a giant wall of trees that will run across the continent to stop the spread of the Sahara Desert. The Great Green Wall of Africa will stretch for 7,000 kilometres, from coast to coast right across the continent.#ESG pic.twitter.com/302lHJfbSy
