Johnson says EU membership is like a Prison - play the 'Crazy EU regulations' game

Jonny Clark

7th March 2016

London Mayor, Boris Johnson appeared on the Andrew Marr show yesterday and has now become the poster-boy for the 'Out' campaign hoping to convince people to back Britain's exit of the EU. Fundamental to the 'Out' philosophy is the reduction in UK sovereignty and its inability to have full control over regulation of businesses.

The resource outlined here attempts to get your students to discuss issues of sovereignty in a fun and engaging way by playing a game where the question is posed: Which of these are genuine laws or directives put in place by the EU? Your students are faced with a screen of 16 'laws' that have been implemented by the EU. However, some of the laws are not real - they were interpretations of laws or complete fabrications made up by the British Press over the last 15 years. Can your students work out which is which?
