Indie coffee shops battle it out on the high street

The number of coffee shops in the UK increased by over 6% last year - are we close to saturation point? Or will more entrepreneurs enter a space where non-price competition is so important?

Costa and Starbucks continue to dominate. As of December 2016, Costa ranked highest with 2,121 outlets in the UK, followed by Starbucks with 898 outlets and Caffè Nero with 650 stores.
