Index Funds - excellent introduction from Tim Harford
17th July 2017
If you were lucky enough to see Tim Harford at our National Teachers Conference on 5th July you would have seen his presentation on the technological inventions that have shaped the modern world.
He's also written an article on the BBC today about Index Funds which acts as an information piece for his radio series '50 Things That Made the Modern Economy'.
Tim's series is fantastic generally (and some episodes are still available from the BBC radio iPlayer) but my eye was caught by this article as it gives a little bit of history and explanation about how investment Index Funds came about and how they work. Alongside that it does explain some of the weaknesses of the Index Fund as an investment process - all valuable stuff for A level Economics students learning about the financial markets.
