Europe's Busiest Airports
13th October 2017
London Heathrow saw 75.7 million passengers flow through its terminals in 2016 - little wonder that, according to most estimates, the airport is right up against capacity constraints.
It is just possible that in 2017 Europe's airports will carry more than a billion passengers to their destinations. This despite uncertainties over the fragile profitability of many airlines, the risks from Brexit-induced turbulence and industrial relations problems in several countries.
What are the policy options for increasing airport capacity in the UK? Britain's underlying competitiveness depends hugely on finding the right answers both for passenger and freight traffic.
