Contestable Markets - China tech giant Xiaomi aims at global smartphone top spot

It is interesting that Xiaomi are being so ambitious in targeting top spot in the global smartphone market.
They have a SMART objective - in that the firm is being given 3 years to overtake Samsung - and one wonders whether it's indicative of the firm pursuing growth in preference to profit maximisation.
The Beijing-based firm recently celebrated the 10th anniversary of its first smartphone - you can see from the graphic below the progress they have made in accumulating market share for smartphone sales in Europe.
