We’re excited to launch brand-new Exam Practice Papers to support learners preparing for the AAQ BTEC National in Early Childhood Development.

These practice papers provide the most realistic preparation possible for external assessments, helping students build confidence, sharpen exam technique, and secure success in their qualification.

Unit 1: Children’s Development

This resource includes two full practice exam papers with accompanying mark schemes for Unit 1. Each paper mirrors the style, structure, and demand of the official assessment:

  • Uses the same question types and command verbs as the sample assessment material

  • Matches the live exam format, with 80 marks available and 1 hour 45 minutes suggested timing

  • Provides full mark schemes so learners can self-assess or teachers can give targeted feedback

By completing these papers under timed conditions, students can:

  • Develop their exam confidence

  • Practise applying specialist terminology in context

  • Identify areas for improvement before the real assessment

Unit 2: Keeping Children Safe

The Unit 2 practice pack follows the same approach, offering two realistic exam papers and full mark schemes to support mastery of safeguarding and child protection content.

Working with these resources allows learners to:

  • Consolidate knowledge in a practical, exam-focused way

  • Strengthen their ability to interpret and respond to assessment questions

  • Apply their learning to realistic safeguarding scenarios under exam conditions

Why use Exam Practice Papers?

  • Closely aligned with official exam requirements

  • Helps students refine exam technique and timing

  • Provides teachers with reliable tools to measure progress

  • Builds learner confidence and readiness for external assessments
