What we'll cover

  • This session would provide a high-level overview of the key structural and philosophical changes which make the new specification so exciting and topical.
  • Deconstructing the new 3-Unit Structure: A clear comparison of the new, integrated three-unit model against the legacy 10-unit structure, explaining the new flow of the course.
  • Spotlight on Thematic Changes: An analysis of the key themes that have greater prominence throughout the new specification, such as digital technology, sustainability, ESG, and embedded ethics.

  • This session will focus specifically on the new topics that students will study. including
  • Digital business: The new specification embeds a deep and practical focus on digital technology throughout all business functions, including new topics like AI in marketing, influencer marketing, CRM and personal selling.
  • Sustainability & Social Responsibility: There is a major new A-Level section on 'Business and Society' that introduces modern corporate concepts like environmental, social, and economic sustainability and, most significantly, ESG reporting.
  • Embedded Business Ethics: Business ethics is no longer a standalone topic but now sits within each A-Level functional area, covering specific issues like tax avoidance in finance, greenwashing in marketing, and pay gaps in HR.

  • This session provides a guide to the new exam papers and question styles.
  • Understanding the New Paper Structure: A breakdown of the consistent format for all three A-Level papers: two case studies, each followed by five compulsory questions.
  • Deconstructing the Command Words: A detailed focus on the new standardised question tariffs: the 6-mark 'Analyse', 9-mark 'Assess', and 15-mark 'Evaluate' questions.
