About this event

The Year 1 Core of the Pearson T Level Health is broad and demanding, requiring students to develop substantial knowledge and understanding across Content Areas 1–9 alongside a range of transferable Core Skills. The specification identifies six Core Skills covering person-centred care, communication, team working, reflective evaluation, researching and presenting.

This course is designed to give non-specialist, early career and inexperienced T Level Health teachers the knowledge, confidence and practical approaches needed to teach the Year 1 Core effectively.

Our experienced hosts will facilitate a practical day which will:

  • Unpick the breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding required across Content Areas 1–9
  • Explore practical and engaging approaches to teaching challenging health, healthcare and science content
  • Consider how to sequence and connect content so that students build secure knowledge and understanding over time
  • Explore strategies for developing the six Core Skills alongside the teaching of Core knowledge
  • Consider how healthcare contexts, scenarios and case studies can be used to develop students' ability to apply their learning
  • Explore approaches to developing students' research, communication, team working, presentation and reflective evaluation skills
  • Consider how Core knowledge and Core Skills come together in the Employer Set Project
  • Share practical teaching approaches and resources that can be taken back to the classroom and used immediately

Join us for a full day of practical ideas, resources and opportunities to collaborate with colleagues as you develop your confidence in teaching the Year 1 Core of the Pearson T Level Health.
