About the course

Throughout the day we will explore the Human Biology & Health unit, empowering you to teach the whole unit, with a focus on understanding and teaching the trickier topics in fun and engaging ways.

This course is suitable for both teachers with no prior human biology teaching experience, as well as those wishing to brush up their skills and boost their confidence. You will leave the day well-prepared with a new or improved knowledge base, a range of teaching resources and activities, and having tried out various teaching ideas and methods.

You can expect the following to be included in our event programme:

  • Overview of topics - what they are, how they link to one another, and how they are assessed in the exam
  • Overview of the teaching year - planning your time and structuring your teaching
  • Teaching tricky topics such as:
    • Homeostasis and regulation
    • Energy in the body and cellular respiration
    • Heart and cardiac cycle
    • Ventilation and gaseous exchange
    • Interconnections between human body systems and disorders affecting them

What attendees say

I just wanted to say that the training I attended on Friday was the best training I have ever had in terms of BTEC. It was absolutely fantastic. Both the trainers were brilliant - knowledgeable, engaging and credible. They were able to answer questions and their knowledge and ability to relate to us as teachers was just brilliant. I feel so much more confident now and very much hope that there will be some more resources on their way with regards to this course because I will be the first to buy! I cannot convey in words how helpful this was!
