In this mini case study on Patagonia, students can explore tensions between ethical objectives and profit through environmental decisions, ownership changes, numerical calculation, and balanced evaluation of business priorities in practice.

Students identify two Patagonia decisions likely to reduce profit and explain why. They then explain how ethical choices can conflict with profit maximisation, calculate total annual profit from a percentage figure, and evaluate whether all businesses should put ethics before profit. The final task requires one argument for and one against, leading to a balanced, justified view.
