Chances are many students will know friends or family who are self-employed - one of the scariest but also exhilarating ways of being an entrepreneur. Self-employment is on the rise, as this BBC article explains. Lots of great data for students to explore here, including the most popular sectors for self-employment. The link between rising self-employment and record low levels of unemployment is also one for students to consider. Freelancers now account for around 15% of the working population in the UK.
