Structuralists are sociologists like functionalists and Marxists (macro sociologists). Post-structuralism, closely linked with postmodernism, concludes academics today should not use such theories (dismissing them as metanarratives). This is not just a phenomenon in sociology, but also in philosophy, literary criticism, history and other disciplines.
