Nationalism is argued to be a belief system which replaces religion as individuals are proud about their nation. Later Bellah labelled this a civil religion as this nationalism provided similar functions as conventional religions. For example; Russian would be a civil religion as individuals hold their nation up as superior and greater than any other.
