Rio's Favelas

Sarah Best

22nd March 2018

In 2016, Rio de Janeiro hosted the summer Olympic and Paralympic Games.

However, the government were criticised for funding the games whilst failing to provide for some of the city’s poorest people. 25% of Rio’s residents live in favelas - that’s over 1 million people.

The following video could be useful for the Global Development unit to illustrate the lives of people living in the favelas.
