Abortion Ban in Alabama
27th May 2019
A recent bill has been passed in Alabama, USA to prevent women from seeking abortion procedures.
Alabama is one of a number of US states seeking to overturn 1973 legislation that legalised abortion (Roe vs Wade), and it is one of the restrictive in that the law also includes a ban on abortion in cases of incest and rape.
The bill's passing has been heavily criticised by pro-choice campaigners as well as other politicians with the view that it would criminalise doctors and "it was an attempt by men to tell women what to do with their bodies," according to Alabama Democratic state Senator Bobby Singleton.
