Facebook celebrates its 15th birthday this year.

The social media platform has changed the way that many people interact and use the Internet in general. But could there be a successor to Facebook?

The following video from The Economist briefly outlines one such social media platform Mastadon that ad-free and company owned.

The video and subsequent research by students into different forms of new media could be used within the Media unit.
