Psychological Dependence

Psychological dependence occurs when a drug or a behaviour becomes of central importance to a person’s thoughts, emotions and activities. The person may experience cravings, which are intense desires to take the drug or to engage in the behaviour. Even though an addiction is non-physical (e.g. gambling) it can still lead to psychological dependence.
