The Pituitary Adrenal System is a system in the body which facilitates the release of energy in a stressful situation, particularly a chronically stressful situation.

It is designed to help the individual keep their levels of energy at a high level to help the individual deal with the stressor (i.e. the ‘thing’ causing the stress at that point in time).

The system is a process which results in the release of corticosteroids and glucose. The system is outlined in the diagram below:
