About the role

AQA is an educational charity committed to helping students and teachers realise their potential. We’re looking for a Lead Assessment Writer to create high quality assessment materials of paper BU04 on our current International A-level Business specification (9625). The successful candidate may then be offered to produce materials of our revised International A-level Business specification (9725) once production begins, specifically for BSS4.

This role can be worked flexibly and is designed to be carried out alongside full time teaching commitments.


What you’ll do

  • You’ll play a key role in the question paper production process by creating high quality question papers and mark schemes which reflect the requirements set out in a brief.
  • The successful applicant would complete this work for both the January and June series.
  • You would be required to attend approximately 3 days of meetings per series.

In your application’s personal statement, please provide evidence of:

  • Current or recent teaching experience (within the last 2 years), and excellent knowledge of A-level Business across either domestic or international qualifications.
  • Experience of writing questions in an education setting and a comprehension of what makes a good question paper and mark scheme.
  • Your ability to write to a brief.
  • Consistency in meeting deadlines and delivering work to a strict schedule.
  • Adaptability in refining work based on feedback from multiple sources.

  • You’ll help shape assessments that reflect the diverse skills and understanding of students internationally. Your work will be essential in delivering assessments that meet the needs of both learners and teachers.

  • This is a contractual role; you’ll be paid a fee for both your work and meeting attendance.
