About the role

Varndean College is a popular and successful sixth form college in Brighton and Hove, offering a wide range of A Level, vocational and International Baccalaureate courses to around 2,000 students aged 16–19. The college has a strong reputation for high-quality teaching, an inclusive ethos and excellent progression to higher education and employment.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and qualified teacher to join our Health & Social Care team. Health and Social Care sits within the IB & Vocational school, alongside subjects such as PE, Sport and Public Services.

For candidates with the appropriate experience and leadership skills, there will also be the opportunity to apply for the role of Deputy Programme Leader for Health and Social Care. The Deputy Programme Leader will support curriculum development and work closely with the Programme Leader and colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching, learning and student outcomes.

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree and/or professional vocational qualification, together with a recognised teaching qualification/Qualified Teacher Status.

Applications from ECTs and experienced teachers from Sixth Form Colleges, FE Colleges and Schools are welcome.

Course Tutor - Health & Social Care

Up to Pt 9 of SFCA Teaching Pay Spine - currently £51,714 pro rata per annum
(Deputy PL role would attract a responsibility allowance of £1,316 per annum, plus 1 period of management remission)
0.76 – 1.0 FTE (26 – 34 periods per week, Monday – Thursday/Friday)
