Reduced absorption of nutrients

The reduced absorption of nutrients occurs during later adulthood when the body becoming less effective at absorbing nutrients. Other causes may include brittle teeth, making it more difficult to chew food or a change in someone’s ability to taste food and therefore eating less. If the individual does not take in the required nutrients, this can result in malnutrition.
