Cholesterol is a fatty substance that can build up in the arteries around the heart. High levels of cholesterol are diagnosed by a blood test.

Causes of High Blood Pressure

The major cause of this is unhealthy lifestyle factors that include an unhealthy diet, smoking and alcohol consumption.

In a small number of cases it can be inherited and can go unnoticed if it is not detected at an early age.

Effects of High Blood Cholesterol

  • Coronary heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Heart attack

High Blood Cholesterol Can Be Treated By

  • Cutting out fatty foods
  • Exercising
  • Reducing alcohol consumption
  • Not smoking
  • Reducing stress levels
