ADLs / MDT Working Case Study Activity

This activity brings together student knowledge on essential content area C: Health and social care promotion, prevention and treatment at different life stages. It focuses on developing student knowledge and understanding of the Roper, Logan and Tierney model of Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) and how this is used to give person centred and holistic care by the multidisciplinary team (MDT).

• 12 case study activities are provided. Each features an individual with a different combination of life stage and prevalent health condition or health promotion/prevention requirement from the specification.
• For each individual, a group of five relevant health and social care professionals is assigned. Students will work in a group of five to take on the roles of these professionals and plan person centred care for their individual.
• A blank care plan template for use in the activities is provided. A list of discussion prompts is provided for each case study/MDT meeting.
• A list of health and social care professionals with brief explanations of their role is also included, which students can print and file in their class notes. This is also a useful resource for the included activities.
• Brief teacher notes are provided for each activity, to support students that may require additional help.
