Weight loss jabs have been in the news and social media a lot recently and the dangers have been highlighted but today we want to explore the individual differences in the effect of weight loss injections. Why do some people lose more weight than others? Why are some people unwell and some healthy whilst injecting?

There is some new research that suggests that genetics can play a role in the effectiveness of the injections. It has been found that people who carry two variations of particular genes that are related to digestion and appetite can lose more weight than others when injecting. Many people begin the weight loss injections without being aware of whether they carry these genes. The National Journal research suggests that these genes could also explain why some people experience vomiting and others do not.

1.6 million people have tried weight loss injections over the past year and the figure is expected to rise as they become more affordable. It is important to understand the risks and variables that impact their effectiveness.

15,000 people took part in the study which investigated their genetic makeup and their success rate on the injections. The findings suggest that there is indeed a pattern between genetics and success on the injection and because the sample size was large, this data can be trusted.

Although these findings appear to be true, it is important to consider that there are many variables that can impact the success of the injections including sex, age, ethnicity and how well an individual follows the instructions.

1. Who is the NHS prescribing weight loss injections to?

2. When are weight loss injections considered dangerous?

3. If individuals pay privately, where are they sourcing them and how much are they costing?
