US universities predict a stronger 2018 hurricane season
13th May 2018
North Carolina State University and Colorado State University have both predicted through their own independent research that the 2018 season will be even worse than 2017, which saw hurricanes such as Irma and Harvey cause devastation across a number of countries.
The predictions are supported by evidence of ocean warming and the potential impact that could have on the number and intensity of storms this coming season. With many countries still devastated from last year's events, the ability to prepare and mitigate against the upcoming storms is unlikely; particularly for countries such as Puerto Rico who still have visible signs of devastation across the island.
Blame for this is being firmly placed on the greenhouse gas emissions and the failure of countries such as the USA to reduce their emission levels. Whilst the emission levels are not tackled, the risk, not only for 2018, but also upcoming years is likely to increase. Check out the full report here... https://www.theguardian.com/wo...
