UK plans to restore peat bogs to reduce climate change
22nd July 2019
The government are interested in a very inexpensive way to reduce climate change.
The government has estimated that it will cost between 8 & 22 billion pounds to restore natural peat bogs across all areas of the UK. This is much less than the cost of dealing with climate change and expected savings are around £109 billion. Traditional peat bogs absorb and store large amounts of carbon dioxide so by restoring the natural environment this will have a significant impact on climate change.
