Strategies to reduce the risk of landslides

I spotted this tweet from Erick Solheim pointing to the example of farmers in who Kenya have found innovative solution to stop frequent landslides.
Smallholder farmers along the Upper Tana River basin are investing in bamboo trees to curb floods. Not only does this help bind the soil together and provide a natural barrier, fast-growing bamboo also opens up commercial revenues smallholder communities. More here.
