Hurricane Dorian devastates the Bahamas

Head of USAID has compared the damage caused to the Bahamas to that of the destruction caused by a nuclear bomb.
Flying over the islands gives a real sense of perspective, with some areas unaffected and others completely obliterated by the 200mph winds that battered the area last Sunday. In the most affected areas, up to 90% of infrastructure has been destroyed and people have moved out to Nassau. 3500 people have been evacuated so far and some have been sent to the USA as there will be a struggle to house and provide for a large number of people in Nassau. It is predicted that around 70,000 people are in need of food and shelter. Many Bahamians are angered at the slow response from their own government and people have felt very isolated since the event. For more on this event, check out the following report:
