Blackpool rose to prominence with the Industrial Revolution and started to fall behind with the rise of cheap airlines and the structural decline of the domestic tourist industry.

In this discussion we see some of the key data charts on the changing economic, social and demographic profile of Blackpool. Soaring antidepressant usage and falling life expectancy are just a few of the problems facing UK coastal towns like Blackpool.
