Temporal discounting

Temporal discounting refers to the tendency to value immediate rewards more than delayed rewards. This can be related to the concept of willpower, because people may choose immediate gratification because they lack the self-control to wait for the delayed reward. For example, someone might prefer to spend money now on a new gadget rather than saving it for a vacation later because the gratification from buying the gadget is more immediate.
