Bandwagon Effect

The bandwagon effect is a microeconomic phenomenon where an individual's demand for a good increases directly because other consumers are buying it. Challenging the classical assumption of independent preferences, it occurs when buyers derive utility from social conformity, fashion trends, or network externalities. This deeply interdependent consumer behavior ultimately makes the entire market demand curve flatter and highly price elastic.
