Algorithmic Collusion

Algorithmic collusion occurs when competing firms use shared pricing software to coordinate prices without direct human communication. By using identical algorithms that react in real-time to market data, firms can effectively mimic a cartel. This "conspiracy by parallel adaptation" eliminates competitive price-cutting, artificially inflating consumer prices while bypassing traditional legal definitions of collusion that require explicit human agreements.
