In this activity, students apply Hackman’s model of team effectiveness to a five-store record shop chain experiencing falling sales, inconsistent service and weak communication. They identify effective-team conditions, diagnose the weakest areas and explain how clearer responsibilities, better information sharing and additional training could improve performance. Students also recommend practical actions, such as regular meetings, and decide which of Hackman’s five conditions should be prioritised to strengthen teamwork, customer service, coordination and sales across the business.
