What's The Topic is a really simple concept but designed to get students thinking at the very start of a lesson.

 What's The Topic basically involves showing students at the start of a lesson a short video that relates to the topic and asking students to work out from the video what they think the lesson is about rather than explaining at the very start what they will be covering/ learning within the lesson.

 For example, below is a real belting video. The classic 'communication problems' from Fawlty Towers. This could be shown at the start of a lesson on customer service and then asking students what they think the lesson is about. Reference can be made back to the video throughout the lesson.
