Mathematics: Invention or Discovery?

Are numbers discovered or invented - Click here for the link

The discussion begins by looking at imaginary numbers.
It moves on to look at the artistic element of mathematic. How beauty can be found within mathematics. The history of numbers and the evolution of mathematics in relation to physics is also addressed. It also refers to the religious element of numbers and mathematics. ‘Number language’ is also touched upon.

Within one very short talk (2.56 mins) several areas of TOK are addressed -
aesthetics, language, maths, science, knowledge, and art

Well worth a look.
