 I finished my academic year with a discussion of innovation, and new ideas. On an optimistic note, I've just seen that the UK comes second in a new ranking of global innovation.

The innovation score appeared in The Economist, and quotes a new innovation index that uses three measurements to rank individual countries.

This is a great topic for discussion and reflection (I proposed that container shipping was the greatest innovation of the last sixty years) and you can follow a series of links on the topic here.
