A useful challenge in BTEC National Business Unit 2 is helping students explain why a promotional method suits a particular business. Naming the method is straightforward; connecting it to the business’s aims, audience, budget and timing requires more careful judgement. Make Your Pitch is a new interactive activity that gives students practice in making those connections.

They choose promotional methods, consider feedback on every option and respond to twists that change the circumstances behind their original recommendation. It can be played individually or in classroom teams, with a choice of 5, 10 or 15 rounds. Asking students to justify their decision before revealing the feedback provides a useful starting point for discussion and written practice.
