Edexcel has released details of the context for Paper 3 June 2017.

For the first sitting of Paper 3 in June 2017 the context is the health and fitness industry and the private businesses operating in this market in the UK and internationally. Details of the context are provided further below.

In order to help teachers and students prioritise their time ahead of linear exams in June 2017, our Edexcel Business team have started work immediately on our Research Toolkit for the 2017 context. This will also include a full exam-style and exam-standard Practice Paper 3 together with mark scheme.

We anticipate this work, which is all your students will need ahead of the exam, will be completed by early January 2017.

Pre-orders for the 2017 Research Toolkit can be made here or by contacting the tutor2u office by email.

Edexcel A Level Business Paper 3 Context

This year the context is the health and fitness industry and the private businesses operating in this market in the UK and internationally.

To prepare for this year’s context, students should research:

  • trends in the number and size of health and fitness clubs in the UK over the last 10 years, including organic business growth and takeovers
  • influences on the market for health and fitness clubs and gyms, such as social trends, changing costs and membership prices
  • the facilities and services provided by private health and fitness clubs, such as swimming pools, aerobic classes, racquet courts, saunas and therapy
  • the range of private health and fitness clubs that operate in the market, in the UK and internationally
  • human resource management in the UK health and fitness industry

Students are reminded that they cannot take any of their research or investigation data carried out as part of the pre-release into the examination.
