Manufacturers increasingly launch new products for Easter.

Chocolate is the most popular purchase at Easter, in a market worth approximately £700 million.

In recent years, manufacturers have significantly expanded their product ranges to include a variations of traditional offerings.

Cadbury offers multiple versions of its iconic Creme Egg, including a Biscoff caramel biscuit-filled option. Hot cross buns are now produced in flavours such as salted caramel and tiramisu by supermarkets including M&S and Sainsbury's.

Industry data supports this trend. Research firm Mintel found that 70% of consumers enjoy food and drink that provides new taste experiences.

However, new product development (NPD) is made more difficult due to economic changes.

Global cocoa prices have risen sharply, making chocolate approximately 15% more expensive than a year ago. Household incomes are under pressure from rising costs of living causing some consumers to cut back on chocolate purchases.

Manufacturers have also faced criticism for shrinkflation, from reducing product size while maintaining prices.
