This is a superb graphic illustrating the long run ascent of air travel from Ireland over the last thirty years. In large part because of increased competition and lower fares offered by low-cost carriers like Ryanair, 113 million people were carried in Ireland in 2015. Yes there was a slowdown in the wake of the Irish recession after the Global Financial Crisis but the total is soaring once again as Ryanair and other airlines add new routes.
