Interesting taking a brief look at the new AQA Business specification (for first teaching Sept 2015): highlights below. The new A Level Business from AQA is broken up into the following ten topics:

  1. What is business? [AS & A Level]
  2. Managers, leadership and decision making [AS & A Level]
  3. Decision making to improve marketing performance [AS & A Level]
  4. Decision making to improve operational performance [AS & A Level]
  5. Decision making to improve financial performance [AS & A Level]
  6. Decision making to improve human resource performance [AS & A Level]
  7. Analysing the strategic position of a business [A Level only]
  8. Choosing strategic direction [A Level only]
  9. Strategic methods: how to pursue strategies [A Level only]
  10. Managing strategic change [A Level only]

Assessment:

AS Business:

Two one-and-a-half hour written exams at the end of the course.

Paper 1: Two compulsory sections, including multiple choice, short answer questions and data response questions.

Paper 2: One compulsory case study consisting of seven questions.

A Level Assessment:

Two hour written exams at the end of the course.

Paper 1: Multiple-choice questions, short answer and two essays.

Paper 2: Three compulsory data response questions.

Paper 3: One compulsory case study consisting of six questions.
